Amelie has lived her entire life safely within the cacoon of court life in Floran. Her parents are courtiers, those with the personalities and looks and money to surround the royal family and entertain them, living their lives in the luxury of priveledge and beauty. Amelie has been surrounded with silks and flowers and harpers and fools. Her world is all in the brightest of colours and the softest of cloths and the noblest of blood, a world without dirt, without poverty, without war, and without worry.

Growing up in her parents' expansive home in Floran, she was regaled with tales of the wonders of court from her elder brother Josiah, who shared both to tease his little sister who couldn't go yet, and to excite her for the day when she good. In preparation for the promised day, Amelie secured a well-made violin and began practicing every day so that when she was finally able to go, she'd be able to impress all of her peers with her talents. She also picked up a longbow which she took out into the yard and shot into targets for hours every day, perfecting her aim, under Josiah's watchful eye. When the time came, she wanted to have the perfect set of skills to be ready.

At the age of twelve, she was finally considered old enough for court. She can still remember her first day there, the music, the stories, the fools. Every part of the atmosphere just brought colour into her world, and she couldn't ever remember being so happy in her life.

It continued this way for years. She taunted her own younger sister about not being able to attend yet, but helped her learn to sign along with the violin despite it, so that Lydia would also have something to show off when time came to attend court. She danced with all the others, listened to stories, took rides through the expansive royal gardens, and loved life.

Around the time she turned fifteen, she began to think about her future. She began to think about men.

After hearing love stories again and again, she thought that she had it all together how it would go. She picked out the perfect boy and began to make overtures, flirting coyly, and to her pleasure, he responded in turn. She began to think about the wedding, her gown, their beautiful children ...

Until one day, she asked him if he wanted to go riding with her, and he declined, preferring engage in an informal archery contest with some of his friends.

She was outraged and appalled. None of the men in the songs would ever behave this way! She broke things off immediately and never looked back, no matter how her friends told her her that she should forgive him when he was trying so hard to wn back her love. What he had done was simply unforgiveable. In real love, the lord always put his lady first.

And so it went, again and again, as Amelie searched for the perfect man, failing everytime when he has not lived up to her standard. She's even lowered them, since, more than she ever thought she'd excuse herself for doing, but no one can live up and she can't see how she could possibly aim lower.

PERSONALITY ;;

Amelie is very haughty, very entitled, very spoiled, and very selfish. She expects everything to go her way, because things usually have, and when they don't, she has the tendancy to throw a fit. She has a high standard of propreity, a standard that she holds others to as much as herself. It isn't uncommon to see her scolding peers and especially her siblings for lapses in courtesy that others may find quite invisible. She has the unpleasant tendancy to be embarrased easily by the actions of others.

Amelie is also a gossip to the extreme. While she cares very much for her friends, nothing pleases her more than finding a juicy bit of information that she can pass on to someone else, and it isn't uncommon to come across her speaking poorly about someone she loves very much, caught up in the moment. Some of her companions have come to expect and accept this from her ... others, not so much, and it can often lead to dramatic conclusions.

She dislikes talk of world issues, of serious affairs beyond the personal. If food stores are low, the harbour is backed up, wild dragons have eaten the sheep -- she doesn't want to hear about and it and she certainly doesn't want to talk about it. She's very ignorant -- quite wilfully so -- of any world outside of the eternal flowery summer haven that is court at Floran. She doesn't want anything to enter that cacoon.

She can also be a bit of a braggart whenever she does anything she considers worthy of it.

Amelie desperately wants to find the "perfect love" for herself. A lifetime of listening to songs of fairytales and romances, she has constructed an image of what a relationship entails without a stich of reality getting caught in the cloth. She becomes interested in a man and constructs a perfect future in her head, but once involved with him, he can never live up to her expectations and she quickly ends it.

But she is a good person at her heart. When someone comes to her, genuinely hurting, Amelie immediately sheds all of her haughtiness and pettiness and becomes the perfect shoulder to cry on. She'll never repeat what is said there to anyone, not matter how good the gossip is. She's quick with genuine compliments whenever they're warranted and enjoys listening to others talk about their lives. She's thoughtful and generous and a lot of fun to be around, and so, despite all of her many faults, she has a great deal of friends and no problem making more.

APPEARANCE ;;

Amelie is a of average height and size. Though not a great beauty, she makes the most of her looks by knowing what to wear and how to style herself. She has golden-blonde, gently waving hair that she wears cut around her chin, and bright green eyes.
